Capacity is a changing feeling

Storage is measured in numbers, but experienced as choices. A 100 MB Zip disk held roughly 69 times the capacity of a 1.44 MB 3.5-inch floppy disk. That difference made large files, backups and transfers feel newly practical—even though it is tiny beside current storage.

What media taught

Before fast, always-on networks, moving files often meant carrying an object. Media capacity influenced backup plans, software distribution and which documents or games could travel. The functioning Zip drive in this environment will receive a future photograph and close technical detail.
