Historical context

File-infecting viruses became an important malware category during the DOS and early personal-computing era. Historical names including Jerusalem and Cascade are often discussed in that context; later families such as Sality show that the category continued to evolve.

This visual is intentionally not an exact reconstruction of any one virus or executable format. It teaches only the high-level defensive idea that a program’s internal structure and conceptual route can differ while its name and apparent purpose remain familiar.
