Source & methodology

Observations come from the NOAA National Data Buoy Center latest-observations feed. The feed is a mixed observing network: it includes offshore buoys as well as coastal, Great Lakes, harbour, river, land-based meteorological, and partner stations. This NOAA/NDBC-centered network is the observer’s current coverage stage; broader global station coverage is planned.

The production export is generated hourly. Its generation time and each station’s own observation time are distinct. Unavailable measurements remain missing rather than becoming zero; the backend handles stale or malformed records. Full recent snapshots are retained for seven days, while compact aggregate history is retained separately.
