WHY IT WAS BROKEN
It was not simply brute-forced. Foundational Polish cryptanalysis, Allied work including Bletchley Park, procedural weaknesses, captured material, intelligence, mathematical analysis and Bombe-assisted searches all mattered.
NO SELF-MAPS
With its reflector path, this model never lights the typed letter. That useful property was one clue among many—not a complete explanation for Enigma’s defeat.
